Bank Lunch Timings
Most of the banks in India do not close their windows for customer services during their business hours*. This is because most of the banks close customer services around 3:30 to 4:00 PM and thus do offer customer services in their business hours without interruption. Employees usually take lunch breaks in shifts which allows the staff to attend customers without breaks.
Business hours are different from working hours. While working hours indicate the time for which the bank stays open while the business hours point to the time for which customers can visit the bank for banking services.
Bank Timings Post COVID-19 Lockdown
Banks in India have now revised their bank timings post COVID-19 lockdown. Generally, all banks in India resume their operation from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. However, some of the bank’s actual timing may vary depending upon the location and region. You need to check the bank timing beforehand while you plan to visit the same. Also, now all banks have introduced mobile banking and internet banking services wherein customers can proceed with their banking activities from the comfort of their home.

Bank Transfer Timings
Below-mentioned are bank timings of different payment modes available in India:
Bank NEFT Timings
National Electronic Funds Transfer, or NEFT, is a centralized Pan-India payment system operated by the Reserve Bank of India. It is a bank-to-bank transfer mode which can be availed of 24×7 throughout the year, irrespective of bank holidays. Please note that NEFT transactions take approximately 1 hour to process, i.e., the amount is debited instantly but it takes time to be credited into the receiver’s account. This is because NEFT payments occur in batches of 15 minutes.
However, if you wish to do NEFT payment by visiting you bank, you need to check the bank timings of your specific branch. This means that NEFT branch payment can be done as per the business hours of the specific bank. However, it should be noted that not all branches participate in NEFT transactions offline.
List of bank-wise participating branches in NEFT
(Click on the bank name and an excel sheet will be downloaded in your device. In this sheet, IFSC (codes) are given. If your branch IFSC is there, that means NEFT can be done at the branch.)
Bank RTGS Timings
Real Time Gross Settlement, or the RTGS, is another mode of electronic payment that can be done online as well as offline (at the bank). For online transactions, RTGS timings do not have any specific limit, i.e. these payments can be done round the clock. Contrary to NEFT, RTGS is an instant payment system. Debit and credit happens immediately. The only difference is that RTGS payments require a minimum amount of Rs. 2 lakhs.
For RTGS branch transactions, check the bank timings of your bank.
Bank IMPS Timings
Immediate Payment System, or IMPS, is just like and RTGS payment system, except that it does not have any limit for the minimum amount. IMPS window is open 24×7.
This is an online transfer mode and thus, transfers in branches are not available.
Bank UPI Timings
Unified Payments Interface, or UPI, is an online payment mode. This service is available round the clock and provides instant transfers. That said, UPI is not available offline.
Just like IMPS, UPI is not available in bank branches. For UPI transfers, one only requires a UPI ID linked to their bank accounts.
