What is the MMID used for?
MMID is used to transfer money from one bank account to another bank account. This MMID number is used when you are transferring funds via IMPS. One MMID can only be linked with one bank account.
Even if you have two account in the same bank, then also only one account will be linked with MMID. That’s why it’s called as Mobile Money IDENTIFIER. You can transfer funds to someone else’s account without even knowing their bank account number. All you need is the correct MMID to send money using your mobile phone.
How to get an MMID number?

To get an MMID number, you need to visit your bank and fill in the request to generate MMID in person. This is to ensure maximum security of your bank account and authentication purposes as well.
However, some banks may provide the option of MMID generation via SMS and/or netbanking as well. Provide your registered mobile number to the bank and your bank will generate an MMID for you. This MMID code will be linked to only one bank account and will be a combination of your registered mobile number and account number.
Type MMID and send it to 5676712 from your registered mobile number. If your bank offers MMID generation via SMS, you will receive your MMID on your mobile phone as an SMS.
How to Transfer Funds via MMID?
To transfer funds using MMID, you need to get mobile banking services activated in your bank account. Alternatively, you can also use it to transfer funds via netbanking as well with IMPS mode of transfer.
Please note that MMID is only used when you’re transferring funds via IMPS. So, all you need to do is login to your netbanking account and initiate fund transfer process. Here, select the IMPS mode of transfer. Now, choose your account and then all you need is to enter the beneficiary’s MMID to transfer funds. No need to enter the account details.
