The State Bank of India is the largest of the 239 banks in India that participate in the RTGS system of fund transfers. In this post, we intend to inform our reader about the SBI RTGS charges, timings and SBI RTGS limit, etc.

SBI RTGS Charges
The following are the applicable SBI RTGS charges:

Rs 2 lakhs – Rs 5 lakhs | Rs 20 + GST |
More than Rs 5 lakhs | Rs 40 + GST |
These charges are only applicable when the customers make the transaction at the branch via the SBI RTGS Form.
If you use the online channel for RTGS transfers, there are zero SBI RTGS charges applicable. Also, there are no processing charges for RTGS transactions, as per the RBI guidelines. RBI waived off the RTGS processing fee on 1st July 2019.

SBI RTGS Limit
As per the bank’s website, there is no upper limit for the SBI RTGS payments. However, going by the RBI guidelines, there is a minimum amount ceiling of Rs 2 lakhs for using the SBI RTGS services.
IF you wish to transfer a lower amount, you can use the SBI NEFT service.
SBI RTGS Timings
Customers must note that they can use the SBI RTGS online channel at any time, be it a working day, a holiday or at night. However, there is a small window of 11:50 PM to 00:30 AM during which the RTGS payments are not made. You may process the online application via SBI netbanking but it’s only after this window that the request is processed.
How to do SBI RTGS Fund Transfer?
Follow the below-mentioned steps for SBI RTGS transfers via netbanking:
- Login to your SBI netbanking at OnlineSBI
- Go to Transactions
- Select RTGS mode of transfer

- Select your bank account & beneficiary account details as well
- Provide transaction remarks
- Authorize payment with OTP and hit the Submit button
Alternatively, you can go to your nearby SBI branch and fill out the SBI RTGS form and submit the same at the branch.
That said, we advise you to check the SBI bank timings before you go to your nearby SBI branch to make an RTGS transaction at the bank.

SBI RTGS: FAQs
Online RTGS service is available 24×7 (except between 11.50 PM and 00.30 AM).
Yes. IFSC code of your SBI branch as well as the recipient’s bank is required for SBI RTGS transfer.
There are no SBI RTGS charges for online mode, whereas it is Rs 20 and Rs 40, plus GST, for transaction of Rs 2 – 5 lakhs and above Rs 5 lakhs, respectively.
