What is UPI PIN?
UPI PIN full form- It stands for Unified Payments Interface Personal Identification Number. The UPI PIN is generally of 4 or 6-digit number set by the individuals to make any fund transfer, bill payments, etc. The UPI PIN is linked with person’s bank account which can be set different for different bank accounts. In other words, each linked bank account has different UPI PIN. Individuals can also check balance through UPI app and can make merchant payments.

How to Generate/Set UPI PIN?
In order to set your UPI PIN, one requires to install UPI app such as BHIM App, PhonePe, Google Pay, BHIM SBI Pay, BHIM PNB, etc. on their mobile devices. Create your profile after installing the UPI app entering the required details to proceed further. Follow the below mentioned steps to set or generate your UPI PIN-
Step 1: Launch the UPI App you have downloaded in your mobile device.
Step 2: Get yourself and mobile number verified.
Step 3: Select your bank account from the lists of banks available on the screen.
Step 4: Now you will be asked to set UPI PIN for the first time.
Step 5: Enter your last six digits of your ATM/Debit Card with expiry date.
Step 6: You will receive an OTP for verification.
Step 7: Enter the OTP received.
Step 8: Now set your 4 or 6-digit UPI PIN and proceed further to send and receive money
How to Reset/Change UPI PIN?
In case you forgot your UPI PIN, you can change/reset your UPI PIN by following the below-mentioned steps-
Step 1: Open your UPI App
Step 2: Click on your profile photo
Step 3: Now tap on the bank accounts
Step 4: Now select the bank account you want to change/reset UPI PIN
Step 5: Click ‘Forgot UPI PIN’ tab
Step 6: Enter the last six digits of your ATM/Debit Card and expiry date
Step 7: Now you can create your new PIN
Step 8: You will receive an OTP for verification on your registered mobile number
Step 9: Accept that and you have reset/change your UPI PIN

- Verify the UPI ID of the person before making payment
- Enter the UPI PIN on UPI PIN page only and never share it with anyone else
- Entering UPI PIN means money getting deducted from your account.
- Scanning QR is for making payment, not for receiving money
- Check your SMS when money is deducted from your bank account
- Use help section in the UPI app itself for transaction related concerns
- In case of any frauds, please get in touch with your bank customer care immediately
