The Certificate of Coverage also provides details of your contributions to the EPFO.
The COC Application Form is part of the EPFO portal and is used to claim your COC. You must submit this application form online and follow the instructions they give you to properly complete it.
This application has two parts. In the first part, you’ll provide personal information such as your name and date of birth. In the second part, you’ll fill out information regarding your work history. This includes information about your current employment situation.
Once you have completed the COC Application Form, you will need to submit it to the EPFO portal. You will then receive an email with a link to download your COC.
Is Your EPFO UAN Login Different From Your EPFO Member Login?
Before we guide you through the EPFO home login process, it’s important to address a few of the most common questions we get from employees regarding this platform. Namely, people want to know if their EPFO UAN is different from their EPFO member login.
Your EPFO UAN login is the universal account number which was provided to you by the EPFO when you created your account. This 12-digit number is used for all EPFO transactions. This means that your EPF UAN is the same as your member login.
Essentially, this number provides you with an easy way to access your EPF account online. So, once you enter your EPFO UAN login and your password, you can easily check your EPF balance, download your EPF passbook, and even submit withdrawal claims online.
Does this number change? No. Your EPFO UAN login is a unique number that is assigned to each EPFO member and it remains the same throughout their employment life.
EPFO Employer Login vs. EPFO Employee Login?
Is there a difference in the EPFO login process depending on if you’re an employee or employer? Yes, but there’s only a slight difference.
The EPFO Employee Login portal is for EPFO members who wish to access their account information and make changes to their EPFO profile. To log in, EPFO members need to enter their UAN and password.
The EPFO Employer Login portal is for employers who wish to manage EPFO accounts for their employees. To log in, employers need to enter their UAN and Password.
They will then be able to view all employee EPFO accounts, make changes to contribution amounts, and update employee personal information. Employers can also view EPFO reports and download Form 16s for their employees.

How to Check Your EPFO ID and Password
Before you’re able to access the EPFO member login, you’ll need to know your login (UAN) and your password. If you’re not sure what your EPFO ID or password is then there are ways that you can register for one or check the status of your information.
How to Find Your UAN
Don’t know your UAN? You will need this to log into the portal. However, the process of finding your UAN is quite simple. Visit the EPFO member login and then follow these steps:
- Click on Online Services
- Select the option that says For Employees
- Select Member UAN/Online Services
Once you are redirected to the new page, you will need to find the option that says Important Links. Click on that and then click on Know Your UAN. The portal will ask you to enter your mobile number. Do that and you will receive an OTP code that is linked to your UAN.
How to Register for Your EPFO ID
Don’t have an active UAN? You will need to activate it after you find out what it is by following the steps above.
To do this, you will want to head back over to the EPFO member portal. Make sure that if you’re an employee you’re on the correct page as you don’t need to create an account as an employer.
Then, follow these steps:
- Click on Online Services
- Select the option that says For Employees
- Select Member UAN/Online Services
That should take you to the UAN member e-SEWA portal. This is where you will register for and activate your UAN. To do this, simply click on Activate UAN.
You will be prompted to enter your details. This includes your Aadhaar card, UAN, date of birth, PAN, mobile number, and email. Make sure you use a current, working mobile number as you’ll need this to verify your account.
Enter your details and click Submit. Then, you’ll receive a one-time PIN to your mobile number. Enter that PIN into the space provided online and then you’ll be good to go.
EPFO Member Login: How to Log Into the Portal
Now you’re ready to log into the EPFO employee portal! To do this, head back to the main page of the site you were on above (the main EPFO website). Then, follow these steps (which are almost identical to the ones mentioned above):
- In the top menu on the left-hand side, click on the Services dropdown menu
- Click on For Employees
- You will be taken to a new page where you need to find the box labelled Services
- Click on Member UAN/Online Services
- Enter your UAN and password details along with the CAPTCHA
- Click Sign In
That’s it! If you entered your details correctly then you will be taken to the new page where you can access everything in your EPFO employee account.

For employees’ login, you need to visit the official page of EPFO at https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/. Next, employee must enter the UAN and Password followed by Captcha Code. Now you can sign-in to process further.
The Universal Account Number (UAN) consists of 12-digit numeric figure assigned to every employee contributing to the EPF. It is authenticated by Ministry of Labour and Employment, GOI.
You can check your UAN status by following the below mentioned steps:
1. Visit the EPF member portal at https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ and then sign-in.
2. Click ‘Know Your UAN’ tab.
3. Enter your registered mobile number and captcha code.
4. Request for OTP.
5. Click ‘Validate your OTP and get UAN’.
6. UAN Number and status of UAN will be sent to your registered mobile number.
You need to visit the UAN Portal and click on ‘Know Your UAN Status’. Next, enter the details like Aadhaar number, PAN, etc. you will receive an OTP. Validate your OTP and you can check your UAN Number details.
The UAN is a permanent number and is valid throughout the life of the member, irrespective of any change in employment.
