NPS is a secured investment option that helps to build a financial corpus for the post-retirement period. It encourages you to contribute throughout your employment period and make savings for the future. To download your NPS statement, you have to log in to your NPS account with valid credentials. An NPS statement holds multiple sections and provides insight into your NPS account’s performance.
Here, you will learn the process of ‘how to download NPS statement’.
What is an NPS statement?
A NPS statement shows all the details about your NPS savings. This statement consists of five sections — subscriber details, investment summary, investment details, contribution details and transaction details. To access your NPS statement, you need your PRAN account number and NPS statement password.
In this section, you will get an in-detailed view of the NPS statement online –
Subscriber details
This section contains your personal information, nomination information, contact information and nodal office information. Also, it includes the period from when your NPS statements are generated and the overall status of your account.
Investment summary
From this section, you will find the total contribution, total notional gains and losses, and the holding value of your account. Furthermore, it provides the details of the total return on your investment and the return of the financial year.
The return on investment shows the annually compounded return rate in a PRAN account. It’s calculated by the XIRR (extended internal rate of return) method. The return for the financial year gives insight into the previous financial year using the XIRR formula. It includes all the contributions and redemption from 1st April, the opening balance, the closing balance and the most recent investment valuation of the PRAN account.
Investment details
It incorporates information about total unit credits, Pension Fund Manager (PEM)-wise contribution, recent Net Asset Value (NAV) and Return on Investment (XIRR) during a specific time. Now, the details of the cost of units for your PRAN account are shown by the ‘Total Contributions’ phrase.
Contribution details
The NPS contribution statement provides information about the funds deposited by your office along with the transaction. Also, you will get the details of your employer’s contribution to NPS from this section.
Here, the contribution amount indicates the invested amount in the subscriber account, and the redemption amount provides the unit costs, which were redeemed from the account. The cost of units is determined by the First-In-First-Out (FIFO) pricing method.
Transaction details
The NPS transaction statement helps retrieve the details about the contribution amount, the units allotted by PEM and the NAV. Also, you will get the transaction details of specific dates from this section. Furthermore, the date-specific transactions include units having money deducted due to rectification and redemption. But remember, this information is provided according to the transaction post-date on your PRAN account. It’s not affiliated with the NAV distribution date.
